Subject: Important information regarding performance of outside work by WSV staff
Effective immediately, Resource Property Management, the employer of our WSV staff, will require staff to receive written approval from RPM before commencing outside work for individual residents. “Outside work” is any work that is done for the benefit of an individual owner on WSV property.
What does this mean for WSV owners?
This will affect your planning arrangements with WSV staff for outside work. An approval process will be required. Outside work must not take place during the staff member’s regular hours and cannot use WSV resources.
The process, explained.
- Prior to the start of work, WSV staff will be required to complete a form stating the precise nature of the outside work.
- The staff member will sign the form and ask you to review and sign it too.
- After you sign the form, the staff member will submit the form to RPM for approval and signature. Until all 3 signatures are obtained, work cannot begin.
Why are we doing this?
The purpose of this change is to assure both our community and RPM that staff members who perform outside work for WSV owners release both the Association and RPM from any liability arising from disputes, accidents, or injuries during the performance of that work.
I currently have an arrangement with a WSV staff member that is ongoing. What should I do?
The staff member who is already engaged in outside work with you (e.g. looking after your home while you are away) will be required to obtain the necessary approvals as soon as possible. They will contact you regarding this.
I’m a tenant. Can I hire WSV staff to perform outside work in my home under this arrangement?
If you wish to engage WSV staff in outside work in your home, you will need to ask the owner of your unit to sign the form.
