Join Us for the Westshore Village Memorial Day Picnic!

Let’s kick off the summer season together! The annual Memorial Day Picnic at Westshore Village will be held on Monday, May 26 at 1:00 PM at the pool area.

We invite all residents to bring:

• Your favorite beverage
• A side dish to share with your neighbors

Get ready for some extra fun:

• A 50/50 raffle – bring cash if you’d like to participate!
• Cornhole on the lawn
• Jenga

We’ll be firing up the grill and providing hamburgers, hotdogs, rolls, and all the fixings, so come hungry and ready for a fun afternoon with friends and neighbors!

This is a great chance to relax, catch up with familiar faces, and meet new ones as we welcome the warmer days ahead. Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the neighborhood, we’d love to see you there!

Why We Honor Memorial Day

While Memorial Day often marks the unofficial start of summer, it’s first and foremost a day of remembrance. Originally known as Decoration Day, it began after the Civil War to honor the soldiers who lost their lives in battle. Over time, it evolved into a national observance to remember all American military personnel who have died in service to our country.

Observed on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made for the freedoms we enjoy today. At 3:00 PM local time, a National Moment of Remembrance is observed across the country. We encourage everyone to take a quiet moment during our gathering to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service.
